Welcome to Cyprus!
Car Hire Cyprus is the easiest way of moving around.
If you intend to travel with your friends or family to the Troodos mountains or you want to Cyprus beaches, then make sure to book the right car hire category.
Most of the car hire companies in Cyprus are renowned for meticulously maintained vehicles and quality service. They offer a wide range of cars, regular saloons, 4WDs, sporty cars and even limousines for special events.
Firstly, decide what car do you need. Above all, be sensible about the type of car you will need. Is a convertible absolutely necessary (don't forget about dust or the summer heat, when you want air-conditioning most)? Do you really need a huge 4WD when a medium sized hatchback will do the job? Even on special offers, getting a 4WD can be more than double the price of a medium sized family model. Only rent what you need.
On the other hand, don't forget about your suitcases number and size, pushchairs etc., you might need extra room for these items.
When you pick up your Cyprus hire car, you need to make sure that everything goes as smoothly as possible. Regardless, whether it is the first time you took a hired car or you have done in dozen of times, not all car hire Cyprus companies have the same terms and conditions. Therefore, before you sign the car hire documents with the car hire agency, definitely read all the terms and conditions.
Most of the companies will offer you a particular type of car, or something similar within the range. Which means you might get a different make and model from what you have seen on the pictures.
When you arrange car insurance, always clarify the excess. You might be able to pay extra to reduce excess to zero. However, some parts of the car might be still not covered by the insurance, for example windscreen or tyres. You must be extra careful with the insurance if you are planning to hire a car and drive off road.
Don't forget to include additional drivers to the insurance, if you are not travelling alone.
Usually you are provided with a hire car with a full fuel tank. When you leave, you will have to leave car with the full tank as well otherwise you will be charged for petrol at inflated rates by the car hire company.
Before you drive away with the car, make a check to insure that there are no external damages. If there are spots or scratches, that should be recorded in writing by the car hire company, to make sure you won't be later liable for someone's else damages.
Don't forget to get company's contact details in case of emergencies. If your rental car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, you should know whom you can call.
Check where you have to return your car. Many car hire Cyprus companies offer you to drop it off at the airport you will be leaving from but this has to be agreed from the beginning.
Most of the car hire agreements in Cyprus are on a 24 hour basis, which means that even one hour extra might cost you an extra day's charge, unless you have agreed that with the hire company in advance.
